The Summit 6

The next Summit is just around the corner. North America’s most popular LAN will be hosted by BeyondtheSummit for the sixth time. The BTS Haus in Los Angeles will once again be the venue. Compared to similarly endowed eSport events, The Summit is more like a private LAN party than a professional tournament. That’s what makes it so popular, because no tournament is more friendly and familiar than The Summit. Nevertheless, everything is highly professionally organized, the BTS House is well prepared to welcome eight of the world’s best teams in Los Angeles in November. The Summit 5 and The International 2016 winner Wings Gaming will also be there again.

The Summit 6 Key Facts

  • When? 16-20 November 2016
  • Where? Where? BTS Studios, Los Angeles
  • Prize money: $100,000

The Summit 6 Bets and Bookmakers

Already on the qualification games for The Summit 6 you could place bets with many eSport bookmakers. With the increased involvement of betting providers in the eSport sector, Dota 2 bets have also gained in importance. As a result, odds for large eSport tournaments are available very early on. Bookies like betway eSports and bet365 eSports, make a special effort to give eSports the deserved attention. Betway has put eSports on its own menu item, runs an eSports blog and even sponsored a CS:GO team. Bet365 focuses more on offering you as many eSports betting markets as possible.

For The Summit 6, the schedule hasn’t been drawn yet, but you can bet on the overall winner of the tournament in advance. Once schedules and odds are published, we’ll add them to this page. You can also bet that a special team will make it to the final, or just the region of the winner.

The Summit 6 Teams

OG – direct Invite

After losing the Summit 5 final against Wings Gaming, OG continued unhappily. The two-time Major Champion had to leave the TI 6 Main Event without a win. With a new line-up OG hopes for more success for the coming season.

Wings Gaming – direct Invite

The reigning TI Champion and The Summit 5 Winner will be back in November. Wings will continue to play next season with his roster unchanged, but has been a bit insecure lately.

Digital Chaos – direct Invite

DC played its way into the hearts of the fans at the TI 6. Nobody expected the team to make it to the final. Today DC is undoubtedly one of the best teams in the world and a hot contender for victory at The Summit 6.

Evil Geniuses – direct Invite

EG has not only lost his carry “Fear”, but also support and team captain “ppd”. Nevertheless, the team managed to find full strength again with Cr1t- and Arteezy. “Fear” continues to coach the team. Evil Geniuses is our personal favourite for the overall victory at Summit 6.

EHOME – China Qualification

EHOME has been strengthened by Garder and Sylar since the beginning of the new season. Fenrir and iceiceice have left the team, the latter founded Team Faceless and is also represented at The Summit 6.

Team Faceless – SEA Qualification

Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang invested his private money to finance this team. This could also be the team’s recipe for success, because how could the players’ motivation be higher than when their own team captain believes in them so much that they are even willing to invest their own money? Team Faceless should definitely be on the radar.

Team NP

One of the youngest teams is NP. With EternaLEnVy and Aui_2000 the team has two The International Legionnaires on the roster. The latter could even win a TI with EG. In the Summit 6 American Qualifiers NP beat compLexity in the final and earned the tournament spot.

Summit 6 Format

The teams are scattered directly into a double elimination bracket. The losers of the first round can theoretically play their way to the final in the lower bracket and win the tournament. All games will be played in best-of-three mode, with the exception of the Grand Finals, which can last up to 5 games.

The Summit 5

The Summit is a Dota 2 LAN event organized by Beyond the Summit (BTS). This year, the tournament will be held for the fifth time at BTS Studio in Los Angeles. Eight of the world’s best teams will meet in exciting Dota 2 matches from July 13-17, 2016, making The Summit 5 also an interesting tournament for eSport betting. Players can look forward to a total win of over $100,000 and lots of fun, even away from the Dota 2 games.

The Summit 5 Key Facts

  • When? July 13-17, 2016.
  • Where? Where? BTS Studios, Los Angeles
  • Prize money: $100,000
  • Format: 8 teams, double elimination

The Summit 5 Betting Providers and Odds

Since no schedules have been published yet, there are no quotas for The Summit 5 yet. However, if you look at the participating teams, it can be assumed that some eSport betting providers will provide odds for the Dota 2 tournament. Favourite OG has been absolutely dominant over the last few months and is certainly the hottest contender for Summit 5 victory, but all other teams are among the best in the world and are always good for a surprise. If they meet each other, it will be exciting how OG beats the Chinese team Wings Gaming. Since OG’s victory run, there have been no matches between the teams.

The Summit 5 Teams

OG

The young team currently dominates everything and everyone. Only the Chinese team Newbee seems to cause them some problems. Too bad that they couldn’t qualify for The Summit 5.

Team Liquid

The team of Captain Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi had to be content very often with 2nd place lately. At two big tournaments the European team of OG was eliminated, but at the EPICENTER they could not only win but also show that OG is not invincible.

Natus Vincere (Na’Vi)

Audience favourite Danil “Dendi” Ishutin plays for no other team than Na’Vi since December 2010. Since winning The International 2011, it has been a constant up and down with Na’Vi, yet the Mid-Lan has remained loyal to his team and that has been rewarded. In the last months Natus Vincere could show that they have overcome their low and deserved a place at The Summit 5.

Digital Chaos

In the qualification for the Americas region, Digital Chaos was able to hold its ground against its rivals and, like at the NanYang Championships, secured a tournament place.

Wings Gaming

In the Chinese qualification the players of Wings Gaming show that they are in top form and eliminate both Newbee and Vici Gaming Reborn. Wings Gaming will also participate in The International 2016.

Fnatic

Probably the most successful team from south-east Asia, they won the qualification for The Summit 5 against their competitors and secured a place at The Summit 5.

Ad Finem

Actually Virtus.pro took first place in the European Qualification and should participate in The Summit 5. But after they missed the entry into TI 6, the Russian gaming club Virtus.pro dissolved its Dota 2 Squad. As a substitute, the runner-up of the qualification, Ad Finem, will take over. The Greek team only barely made it to the Wild Card Round in Seattle and was able to convince in the Summit 5 qualification.

FDL

The American Dota 2 Team FDL was voted into the tournament by the BTS Community. The team is very popular with the public and also won its first prize this year. At the Dota 2 Canada Cup, the team was able to win 2000$.

Tournament format

The rather small eSport event does without a group phase and starts directly with the quarter finals. Losers of a game can still play their way to the final in the lower bracket. Whoever loses two games, however, is eliminated. All games are played in BO3 format, except the big final, which is played in BO5 system (i.e. 3 games won).

The Summit 5 Schedule

Schedules for the LAN event have not yet been released, but will be added as they become available.
